Browne Jacobson advises Acre Platforms Limited on sale of leading mortgage technology platform to ClearScore Group

26 January 2026

Browne Jacobson has advised a portion of the selling shareholders on the successful sale of Acre Platforms Limited (“Acre”), a leading technology solutions provider to the mortgage industry, to the ClearScore Group, a global financial marketplace which serves more then 25 million users.

The acquisition accelerates ClearScore’s entry into the mortgage industry, adding to its leading position in unsecured credit broking. It follows the Group’s successful acquisition of Aro Finance in early 2025, which expanded its capabilities in secured loans.

Under new ownership, Acre will continue to provide cutting-edge technology solutions for mortgage and protection businesses, and together with ClearScore, deliver the best home-buying experience in the market for consumers, meeting the demand of ClearScore’s 16 million user base in the UK. The Group will then extend its mortgage platform into the ClearScore businesses in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

As a data-driven technology platform, the ClearScore Group is a natural home for Acre. The business will power ClearScore’s overall mortgage capability and strategy. This means that ClearScore can now route demand for mortgages from its users to Acre’s broker ecosystem via the platform.  Acre will provide the Group with additional property, mortgage, and affordability data, enriching insights for homeowners and home buyers within ClearScore’s platform.

The Browne Jacobson team was led by Corporate Partners Sandra Wong and Clare Hanna, and Associate Jonathan Bradley, who provided full-service legal support throughout the transaction alongside Partner, Amy Keogh, and Principal Associate, Craig Thomas.

Sandra commented: “This is an exciting transaction for the UK mortgage technology sector. Acre has established itself as the fastest growing intermediary platform in the UK market, and this acquisition by ClearScore validates both the quality of Acre's technology and the strategic importance of mortgage platforms in the broader fintech ecosystem.

"For the mortgage industry, this signals continued investment in technology-driven solutions that simplify complex processes for both brokers and consumers.”

Recent deals undertaken by the team include advising on the sale an Irish specialist in gas safety to a Swedish industry group, and the sale of MC Refrigeration to a Nordic Climate Group, helping their business enter the UK market for the first time.
