Browne Jacobson advises on sale of Advanced Gas Systems to Swedish manufacturing Group
An Irish specialist in gas safety and fire suppression solutions has been acquired by a Swedish industry group of gas detector manufacturers in a deal supported by Browne Jacobson.
The UK and Ireland law firm advised Advanced Gas Systems Ltd (AGSL) on its sale to Safe Monitoring Group, a Vellinge-based developer and manufacturer of gas detection and safety monitoring systems.
Safe Monitoring Systems, which is backed by Swedish private equity firm Alder, said the deal allows the continued expansion of both companies’ work to protect people, equipment and the environment from hazardous gas leaks.
William Darmody, Partner and Head of Browne Jacobson’s Irish corporate team based in Dublin, led the firm’s role in the deal, supported by James Byrne (Legal Director, corporate) and Nadine Cannon (Associate, corporate).
William said: “This deal demonstrates the continued strength and confidence in Ireland's M&A market, particularly for cross-border transactions involving international buyers. Safe Monitoring Group's acquisition of Advanced Gas Systems is a testament to the quality of Irish businesses and their appeal to strategic investors from across Europe.
“As our recent Inward Investment UK & Ireland 2025 report highlights, Ireland remains an attractive destination for international investment, and we're seeing that confidence translate into real deal activity.
“Our corporate team prides ourselves on supporting our clients to achieve their ambitions, whether that's a family business securing the right buyer for the next chapter of growth, or an international acquirer expanding into new markets. Our integrated UK and Ireland corporate team is uniquely positioned to deliver on these complex international transactions, combining deep local market knowledge with the cross-border expertise that deals like this require.”
Established in 2015 and based in Tipperary, AGSL was owned by Ross and Caitriona Larkin.
AGSL offers design, supply, installation and maintenance of gas detection, gas proving and fire suppression systems. It serves commercial and industrial clients across Ireland, with a focus on tailored safety solutions.
After joining Safe Monitoring Group, it will, alongside other companies in the group, collaborate in areas such as R&D, marketing, procurement, sales and service.
Commenting on the deal, AGSL Managing Director Ross Larkin said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of Safe Monitoring Group and look forward to the expansion of both AGSL, as well as the group with other companies joining forces with us.”
Alexander Larsson, CEO of Safe Monitoring Group, added: “I have got to know AGSL during the past year and I’m really impressed with its innovative product and solution. I’m looking forward to expanding the business together with the management of AGSL.
“Safe Monitoring Group will continue our expansion in new geographies and applications by organic growth and an ambitious acquisition agenda.”
