Browne Jacobson completes fifth deal for Orwins as legal consolidator builds national platform
UK and Ireland law firm Browne Jacobson has advised Orwins, the Aliter Capital-backed legal services group, on its investment into Milners, the Yorkshire-based law firm, marking the fourth post-buyout transaction on which Browne Jacobson has advised the group.
Browne Jacobson has now acted for Orwins on every transaction since the platform's creation, having previously advised on the group's investments into Carter Bond, Clarkslegal and Clarke Mairs, as well as the original BBS Law buyout in 2024.
Milners, a full-service firm, with offices in Leeds, Harrogate, Malton, Pontefract and Darlington. The firm is well regarded for its strength in litigation and dispute resolution, and has a distinctive public law practice, with core participation status in both the infected blood and child sexual abuse public inquiries.
The deal is the third Orwins transaction this year, following Clarkslegal in May 2026 and Clarke Mairs in July 2026, and takes the Manchester-headquartered group's national footprint to offices across England with a team of nearly 250 people.
The core deal team was led by Corporate Partner Ryan Brown, with support from Senior Associate Daniel Knowles, Associate Mattias McDonald and Trainee Solicitor Eleanor Broome. The team was further supported by Senior Corporate Tax Advisor Jade Williamson, and Senior Associate Beth Nixon and Associate Emma Cascales-Labbate (Banking).
Ryan Brown commented: "Our relationship with Aliter and Orwins goes back to the very beginning and we have advised on every transaction since the BBS Law platform investment. We’re proud of the depth of sector and client knowledge we offer. Milners is a strong, well-judged addition to the group and we’re pleased to be the team helping Orwins build a national legal services business."
