Browne Jacobson posts record revenue and sets platform for growth through island of Ireland expansion, AI investment and record partner hires

15 June 2026

Browne Jacobson has continued to strengthen its position at the forefront of business and society through a year of strategic investment, innovation and expansion, further enhancing its ability to support ambitious organisations navigating a rapidly changing world.

The UK and Ireland law firm reported record revenue of £148.8m for the year, up 9% on the previous 12 months, driven by growth across all its core sectors including health and life sciences, government, education, financial services and insurance, and acting for corporates across retail and supply chain, manufacturing and industrials, business services, energy and infrastructure and real estate and construction sectors.

This performance was achieved before any contribution from Browne Jacobson Northern Ireland (previously Davidson McDonnell) whose £5.5m Belfast-based business joined Browne Jacobson as part of the firm’s strategic expansion across the island of Ireland in May 2026. This deal marked a significant milestone in the firm’s growth journey, strengthening its ability to support clients operating across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the wider UK market and ambitious global businesses.

The move reinforces the firm’s position as a trusted adviser to all businesses seeking to invest, grow and innovate.

Further supporting growth, the firm also saw its Cardiff office relocate to new premises at One Central Square following substantial growth in the region and doubled its Manchester office space at No. 1 Spinningfields. Across the Browne Jacobson network there were 13 lateral partner hires during 2025/26 (including six in London) alongside annual partner promotions, strengthening expertise across key sectors and service lines and deepening its ability to help clients respond to emerging opportunities and challenges.

Browne Jacobson also accelerated its investment in technology and innovation through the adoption and rollout of a sector-leading AI legal solution Legora, underpinned by a firmwide digital fluency strategy designed to equip colleagues with the skills, confidence and tools needed to harness the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

Supporting clients through growth, transformation and innovation

The firm continues to strengthen its position as a trusted adviser to international businesses investing in and expanding across the UK and Ireland, connecting business, government, investors and institutions to help clients unlock opportunities and navigate complexity.

Key projects include advising global apparel brand SKIMS on its Regent Street flagship store; the Office for Life Sciences on the £85m Obesity Pathway Innovation Programme with Eli Lilly; Homes England on regeneration schemes including Merseyside Police's former Canning Place headquarters in Liverpool and the former Colman's Mustard factory in Norwich; the Welsh Government on Morlais, Europe's largest tidal energy project off Anglesey; and on the merger creating the East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust.

Significant panel appointments and client wins include Pure Gym, Mace Group, Zeiss, Elysium Healthcare, the Crown Commercial Service central government panel, London Universities Purchasing Consortium, London Ambulance Service and the North West Legal Consortium, alongside a strong pipeline of international retail and fashion brands entering the UK market.

Richard Medd, Managing Partner at Browne Jacobson, said: “This has been a year of purposeful investment, bold ambition and significant progress.

“We have strengthened our presence across the island of Ireland, welcomed and promoted exceptional talent, accelerated our adoption of AI and continued to invest in the capabilities that will define the future of professional services.

“We are increasingly being chosen by organisations navigating complex transformation, whether that is a global brand entering the UK market, a university redefining its future, an insurer responding to regulatory change, a health and care provider delivering innovation at scale or an international investor seeking opportunities across the UK and Ireland.

“Our strategy is centred on being at the forefront of business and society, bringing together legal expertise, sector knowledge and deep relationships to help clients seize opportunities and tackle their most pressing challenges.

“While we are very pleased to have delivered record profitable and sustainable revenue, what excites us most is the platform we have built for the future. We have invested with conviction because we believe the opportunities ahead for our clients, our people and our business have never been greater.

“As an ambitious firm, we are focused not only on growth, but on creating lasting value for our clients, our communities and wider society. By acting as a connector between private and public sectors too, we are helping shape conversations and solutions around some of the defining issues of our time.”

Reflecting on Browne Jacobson’s ambition to play a leading role in the conversations shaping the future of business, investment, innovation and economic growth, the firm launched its Investing in the UK and Ireland report during the year, drawing on research with 360 C-suite senior business leaders from £100m businesses to explore the opportunities and barriers facing organisations investing into the UK and Ireland.

Further strengthening its market profile, the firm continued its #PositivePurpose campaign, sharing stories from business, government, education and the third sector to explore how organisations can deliver commercial success while creating positive outcomes for people, place and society.

Browne Jacobson also partnered with the CBI to launch a landmark joint report at UKREiiF that sets out a blueprint for creating modern public-private partnerships that can unlock infrastructure investment in Britain.

The year also saw Browne Jacobson further strengthen its reputation as one of the UK’s leading and most innovative law firms. The firm achieved its strongest-ever performance in Chambers and Legal 500 rankings, winning ‘Law Firm of the Year’ at the Chambers and Partners awards, while also being recognised among Europe’s most innovative law firms in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Europe rankings with Tim Johnson named “most innovative legal practitioner” for his pioneering work in making complex language in legal documents accessible to consumers, businesses and lawyers. The firm was also ranked number one overall in The Social Mobility Foundation’s Employer Index 2025 for the fourth time in five years and is the top ranked law firm for social mobility for the fifth consecutive year.

This recognition reflects Browne Jacobson’s distinctive approach: combining legal expertise, sector insight and innovation to help clients tackle some of the most complex challenges at the forefront of business and society. As a recognised leader in social mobility and inclusion, the firm is committed to broadening access to opportunity and challenging traditional barriers to progression within the legal profession. By bringing together diverse perspectives, pioneering new ways of thinking and acting as a connector across sectors, Browne Jacobson continues to help shape positive change for its clients, its people and the communities it serves.
