Browne Jacobson announces Jonathan Tardif as next Senior Partner

10 February 2026

Browne Jacobson, one of the UK and Ireland's leading law firms, today announces the appointment of Jonathan Tardif as Senior Partner, from 1 April 2026.

Jonathan was elected by the firm's equity partners and will succeed Caroline Green, who has decided to step down after seven years in the role since her election in 2019.

Jonathan joined the firm 13 years ago and brings more than 25 years of commercial dispute resolution experience and deep strategic leadership credentials to the role. As head of the firm's business and professional risk (BPR) department, he has overseen a doubling of the department's revenue to £35 million while maintaining strong profitability. He currently serves on the firm's Executive Committee, which is responsible for delivering the firm's strategy, and for many years was a member of the Partnership Committee, which oversees partner development and progression.

A first-generation university graduate from a state comprehensive background, Jonathan's personal story embodies Browne Jacobson's commitment to social mobility – the firm is ranked top employer in the Social Mobility Foundation's employer index.

The appointment follows another exceptional year for the National Firm of the Year (Chambers & Partners Awards), which achieved a record-breaking turnover of £137 million annual equivalent for FY 24/25 – a 16% increase from £118 million the previous year. The performance was driven by the firm's strategic vision of being at the forefront of society's biggest issues, acting as a connector for clients, and its continual commitment to innovation and building a digitally fluent workforce.

From April, Caroline Green will continue to co-lead the firm’s Retail and supply chain sector group as well as advise national and international retail and supply chain businesses spanning luxury and high street brands – an area where she has built exceptional relationships and market-leading expertise, and also continuing to play a significant role in setting and delivering the firm’s DEI strategy.

Richard Medd, Managing Partner, said: "Jonathan's election demonstrates the confidence our equity partners have in his leadership and strategic vision. His track record of delivering outstanding results for clients and developing high-performing teams positions him well to follow Caroline Green as Senior Partner.”

"I want to pay tribute to Caroline for her outstanding leadership. Under her stewardship, the firm has achieved remarkable growth while staying true to our values. Her commitment to excellence, championing of diversity and inclusion, and focus on client service and our people have left an indelible mark.

"Jonathan's ability to combine strategic thinking with genuine commitment to our values positions him perfectly to champion the issues that matter most to our clients and our people as Senior Partner."

Jonathan Tardif said: "I see this role as a great privilege and responsibility – an opportunity to serve our colleagues, clients and the firm's strategic interests. I'm grateful for the equity partners' confidence in me.

"I want to recognise Caroline Green's extraordinary contribution. Caroline has been transformational to our approach in so many areas, but I would like to single out her role in diversity, equity and inclusion during her tenure as senior partner. I'm delighted that she will continue to drive this critical agenda in a dedicated DEI leadership role, and I'm committed to supporting and amplifying this work across the firm.

“Working closely with Richard Medd and our leadership team, my priority is to ensure we remain at the forefront of society's biggest issues – a strategic pillar that defines who we are and the value we bring. Our clients need a law firm that understands the complex challenges they face and can bring together the right expertise to deliver solutions that truly matter”.

Caroline Green, Senior Partner, said: "I'm very pleased to be handing over to Jonathan from 1 April. His commercial acumen, collaborative approach and genuine commitment to our values will serve the firm exceptionally well.

"I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved since 2019 – transforming our culture, embedding diversity, equity and inclusion into everything we do, and positioning the firm at the forefront of society's biggest issues. Jonathan is a great person to build on these foundations.

"The two-month transition will ensure continuity for all stakeholders, and I'm particularly excited to focus more time on transforming our Retail and supply chain practice, where there are tremendous opportunities for growth as well as continuing to lead our DEI journey."
