Our core values define how we operate as one firm, across our offices nationwide. We aim to work with, recruit and retain people who are genuinely committed to tackling society’s biggest challenges.
Our personality, approach and values are built on existing strengths, where loyalty and success are important drivers. Our people make us who we are. We’re dedicated to creating a positive and solutions-focused experience.
We work to build a law firm that reflects the society we serve. We’re committed to building an equal, diverse and inclusive culture where everyone’s voice and individual experience is welcomed. Our journey to embed equality, diversity and inclusion has been acknowledged by our recognition as the UK’s leading social mobility employer.
We’re transparent in the way we treat everyone. Our virtual careers fairs help us to recruit from under-represented schools and universities, we’ve removed educational barriers to our training contracts and extended our pay gap reporting to include ethnicity. We mentor via a range of schemes, including the Law Society’s ‘Diversity Access Scheme’.
We implement inclusive practices, recently partnering with the University of Nottingham on a project to remove gender-specific language from our job descriptions and advertising.
We aim higher for the people, communities and businesses we work with. We trust and empower our people, enabling them to excel in their career within a supportive environment. Fast-tracking high performers, enabling our people to work where they choose and mapping strong development plans underpin our collective success.
“I’m proud of our heritage and ambitious for our future. We have fantastic people partnering with great clients to help them succeed,” Richard Medd, Managing Partner.
Our collaborative approach is two-fold. We work as one team nationally regardless of where we’re based – an approach which has been further strengthened by the pandemic and the need for remote working.
Not only do we build trusted client partnerships where we work collaboratively to spot opportunities, we connect clients to tackle challenges and inspire one another. Teamwork is in our DNA, recently demonstrated in our #BeJoined campaign. Read more about our recent work across the public and private sector.
Our values and ambitions help clients to achieve their biggest objectives and tackle pressing issues. We deliver this by being up-front with one another and our clients, offering practical solutions and clear advice.
We use our legal knowledge and expertise to provide pragmatic and practical solutions. This clarity supports our clients in planning their next steps whilst considering what they want to achieve in the long-term.
We do the right thing by our people and our clients. We’re dedicated to building a culture which treats our people fairly. Our approach is transparent - we publish our gender pay figures annually and have extended this to include ethnicity pay gap figures, whilst embedding equality, diversity and inclusion measures throughout the firm.
We treat everyone as individuals and tailor their development plans, offering equal opportunities throughout the firm. Our FAIRE access programme is also designed to engage, inspire and help develop students considering a career in the legal sector.
Clients tell us that we’re approachable and quickly establish strong working relationships – honestly and simply. We enjoy building lasting relationships and keep things jargon-free when delivering solutions for clients. We’re dedicated to creating a positive environment where our people enjoy working at all levels, supporting their wellbeing so they can bring quality and energy to every client interaction.
If you’re equally excited to be part of what we can achieve together…
