Shared Insights: Complex medical treatment decisions for patients with mental disorder

This session will be chaired by Becky Fitzpatrick, who heads Browne Jacobson’s health advisory and inquest team and sits as a First-Tier Mental Health Tribunal Judge. Becky will be joined by Ed Pollard, a partner who has vast experience in complex mental capacity issues and the Mental Health Act.
This session will provide an overview of the Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act, to provide delegates with an understanding of which legal frameworks are available when a patient is refusing treatment.
Delegates will learn from real world experience and case studies, to illustrate how these legal frameworks should be applied in complex cases on the frontline of care.

Delegates will have the opportunity to put questions to the panel and share learning and best practice.
