NICE publishes draft guidance on the procurement of Digital Health Technologies (DHT)

NICE publishes draft guidance on the procurement of Digital Health Technologies (DHT).

03 January 2019

NICE publishes draft guidance on the procurement of Digital Health Technologies (DHT) setting out the evidence commissioners should request based upon the classification of the DHT. There are 3 tiers of classification based on the potential risk to users. It is open for comment and feedback through the NICE website until the 7 January 2019.

The classifications do not consider if the DHT must be CE marked under the EU regulations for medical devices and are intended to be complementary. As a minimum all DHTs must have been designed or signed off by both clinicians or social care professionals and users in the UK health and social care system.
