Rebecca is an associate in the health, advisory and litigation team in Birmingham and works with NHS Resolution and their Member NHS Trusts to resolve clinical negligence claims. Rebecca advises NHS Resolution and the Trusts on pre-action and litigated clinical negligence claims involving complex liability allegations and quantum arguments.

Her experience includes cases involving obstetric injury including brain injury, delays in diagnosis and treatment (frequently cancer), missed diagnosis, failed surgery, lack of informed consent, fatal claims, secondary victim claims, and civil claims associated to inquests. Rebecca has also been successful in bringing a fundamental dishonesty claim against a claimant.

Rebecca deals with litigants in person and claims with multiple defendants, carefully managing allegations of contributory negligence, if appropriate, and apportionment, where necessary. Rebecca has a wealth of experience in gathering factual and expert evidence, including liaising with witnesses and independent experts, as well as seeking advice from counsel when needed, to inform an assessment of risk. She also prepares court documents herself, undertakes her own advocacy and attends conferences, settlement meetings and trial.

Rebecca has provided training for NHS Trusts and supervises more junior members of the team too. She is the Immediate Past President of the Birmingham Medico-Legal Society which facilitates improving local knowledge and relationships in the local medico-legal sphere.
