Lynette is an associate in our health inquests and advisory team. Recognised at the WeAreTheCity Rising Stars Awards 2022 for Law, at the Celebrating Neurodiversity Awards 2022 and as Champion of the Year in the Inspirational Women in Law Awards. Lynette advises healthcare providers and commissioners on their obligations under the Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
Lynette joined the team following three years’ experience as a paralegal handling clinical negligence matters for NHS Resolution. She has since been on a 10-month long internal secondment to a large NHS Trust, managing a large caseload of clinical negligence claims and inquests.
Lynette advises clients on Court of Protection and inquest matters, providing guidance on mental capacity, best interests, the Mental Health Act, deprivations of liberty, serious medical treatment cases, safeguarding and commissioning.
Having previously entered the profession as an awardee of the Law Society’s Diversity Access Scheme, Lynette was recognised as a Law Society Social Mobility Ambassador. Lynette contributes to diversity and inclusion agenda as a member of Browne Jacobson’s Diversity and Inclusion group, Social Mobility Committee, and as ‘Disability Lead’ and founder of the Disabilities and Conditions network for employees. Lynette has published articles on disability and social mobility and has been a key speaker at a number of events.

An NHS Acute Hospitals Trust
Undertook a 10-month secondment to University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust during busiest period earlier on in pandemic managing a large caseload with over 60 claims and inquests.
An NHS Mental Health Trust
A patient with agoraphobia required ultrasound scans and a plan for delivering her baby. Supported the Trust to prepare a care plan and evidence for a Court of Protection application to convey the patient to hospital for tests and scans in pregnancy and to undertake a caesarean section to deliver her baby.

Won ‘Champion of the Year’ award at Next 100 Years Inspirational Women in Law Awards 2021.
NHS Mental Health Trust
A patient required dental extraction and lacked capacity in relation to this treatment. Supported the Trust to prepare a care plan and evidence for a Court of Protection application to sedate the patient before conveying them to hospital for the operation and returning them to the care home.
