Find out more about our training contracts

We offer around 15 training contracts each year across all our office locations.

There are two main routes to a training contract:

Via our summer vacation scheme - a two-week placement that takes place in the last 2 weeks of June. The deadline for applications is 15 March.

Via a direct application for a training contract. The deadline for applications is 3 May.

The application process is the same for both routes, therefore you can only make one application to either the summer vacation scheme or training contract per recruitment year. The majority of training contract offers are made to candidates who have been on our summer vacation scheme, so we encourage applications via this route. However, we also understand that not everyone can attend our summer vacation scheme so if this is the case please do apply for a training contract.

Your journey starts with an online application. Shortly after the deadline you’ll be invited to take our online deductive and inductive reasoning tests, administered by SHL. The next stage for successful candidates is a telephone interview - your chance to showcase your skills and experience. The final stage is an assessment centre which includes:

  • Face to face interview
  • Case study exercise (which involves a presentation)
  • Group exercise
  • Written exercise

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, majority of interviews/assessment centres are taking place virtually, via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Our recruitment team will provide all the information you’ll need to access a virtual or in-person assessment centre nearer the time.

Here‘s what they say...

The people that I work with can always spare time to lend a hand and help people who are just starting out in their careers. Browne Jacobson is a real team, a family in fact, and this provides a platform for a happy working environment.

George Denton, Apprentice

I joined the firm after taking the view that it had a genuine intention to provide the best legal representation and client service - and I'm delighted that everything I was told about at recruitment is a working reality now that I am here.
