Secrets of success

I always make the effort to understand my client’s business and the industry sector in which they operate. Linked to this and equally important is developing an excellent working relationship with the people that instruct me and taking the time to understand the way that they work and the culture of the business. It is only by doing this that I can ensure that my advice is tailored to the needs of my client.

The application of competition law is often complex and produces many areas of uncertainty and concern for clients. For this reason, I focus on providing clear and practical advice. Clients want guidance and solutions - not lengthy legal essays!

Expertise

I lead our EU and competition team advising on both behavioural competition law and UK and multi-jurisdictional merger control. This includes advising national and multi-national clients on pricing and distribution strategies and parallel importation issues. I also advise on anti-bribery compliance.

I have defended a number of clients in investigations by the OFT/CMA and the European Commission as well as making leniency and immunity applications. I also advise clients on developing and implementing tailored competition law compliance programmes, including running training and workshop sessions for employees and putting in place internet-based training modules.

In the field of anti-bribery compliance, I have extensive experience of advising clients on putting in place “adequate procedures” to deal with the strict liability corporate bribery offence under the UK Bribery Act.


I work with clients in a diverse range of sectors such as luxury fashion, food, manufacturing, retail, construction, education, charities, health and insurance.
