Insurance insights: The Word, September 2026
For our September edition of The Word, we cover a range of topics from across the insurance sector.
We examine Britain's e-scooter crisis and what six years of regulatory inaction means for insurers. We consider how the Strait of Hormuz conflict is stress-testing war risk clauses that have remained largely unchanged since 1983. We analyse how AI is industrialising cyber risk and the implications for insurers and their lawyers. We look at whether the FCA may be moving towards regulating AI tools such as ChatGPT following recent House of Lords scrutiny. We consider why the FCA's focus on claims definitions and acceptance rate disparities is putting policy wordings under pressure. Finally, we explore the growing PFAS risk posed by the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure and its multi-line implications for insurers.
We hope you find this edition informative and insightful.
