Browne Jacobson secures international backing for British gin company Warner’s Distillery

23 July 2025

UK and Ireland law firm Browne Jacobson has advised Warner’s Distillery, a leading farm-grown spirit company based in Northamptonshire, on a significant partnership with La Martiniquaise-Bardinet, one of France’s largest spirits groups.

The partnership sees La Martiniquaise-Bardinet acquiring a majority shareholding in Warner’s Distillery. Warner’s Distillery has been at the forefront of the spirits industry, not only by creating award-winning gins but also through their commitment to biodiversity and sustainable practices, such as their Warner’s Nature Marque initiative and bee conservation efforts.

The collaboration is set to amplify Warner’s Distillery’s mission to produce exceptional drinks, reinforcing their commitment to quality and sustainability. Warner’s, known for flavoured gin and farm-grown botanicals, will continue to operate under the leadership of founders Tom and Tina Warner, ensuring the brand’s core values and operations remain intact.

The announcement follows the ‘Investing in the UK and Ireland’ report by Browne Jacobson, which found that food and drinks manufacturers are more optimistic than any other sector leaders about M&A activity in 2025.

The Browne Jacobson team was led by Sam Sharp, Partner and head of the food and drink group, Patrick Berry, Senior Associate and Associates Tim Williams and Joe Harris

Sam Sharp, Partner at Browne Jacobson, said: “This is a significant milestone for Warner’s Distillery, enabling them to drive their business both in the UK and internationally, while continuing to innovate within the spirits industry. It was a pleasure to give our expertise in the industry to help another British brand expand globally.
