Retail law roundup: February 2026
Welcome to our retail law roundup, where we share legal updates for retailers and brands.
The retail landscape has rarely felt more turbulent. The US Supreme Court's recent landmark ruling struck down President Trump's tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) - a moment of relief for global supply chains - yet the reprieve was short-lived. Within hours of the ruling, Trump signed a proclamation imposing a 10% surcharge on imports under Section 122, with plans to raise this to 15% for 150 days.
For retail businesses globally, there is no end in sight to rising costs, supply chain disruption, and mounting contractual uncertainty.
