Browne Jacobson a ‘discerning choice’ for clients with ‘IP-rich deals and complex litigation’ - as team ranks for both IAM Patent 1000 and IP Stars 2025

UK & Ireland law firm Browne Jacobson has been ranked again for its patent litigation and transactional work in the 2025 edition of IAM Patent 1000, the independent guide to the world’s leading patent law firms and practitioners. The firm also achieved rankings for IP Stars 2025. 

The latest IAM Patent 1000 guide describes Browne Jacobson's IP practice, led by Partner Declan Cushley, as “a discerning choice” for “skilful handling of IP-rich deals and complex litigation”. They add “Its committed professionals are passionate about achieving the best outcomes for their clients and dispense clear-cut, business-oriented advice to make their goals a reality.” 

It also identifies Browne Jacobson Partner and Head of the firm’s patent practice, Mark Daniels, and Partner Giles Parsons, as two of its leading practitioners again. In addition, Partner Nick Smee who works across the firm’s Energy & Infrastructure practice and Partner Cat Driscoll who works across Browne Jacobson’s Retail, Consumer & Logistics practice have also been recognised as recommended individuals. 

Mark is noted for being “brilliant at distilling down a complex case and quickly gets to the crux of the matter at hand to develop winning litigation strategies” and is praised for his “logical and concise arguments” that have “led to important wins for his following”.  

Giles is described as “knowledgeable, clever, quick thinking and commercially minded” and is noted for being “known for his litigation skill”. 

Cat is noted as a “talented commercial lawyer” and knowing the “ins and outs of the client’s business to deliver the most commercially relevant and pragmatic advice possible”. 

Nick is praised for being a “versatile and dynamic lawyer” and noted for having “contentious experience to negotiate and draw up watertight technology transactions and licensing agreements”.

Additionally, Mark received recognition as a Patent star, and Ciarán Markey was ranked as a Trade mark star in Ireland. 

The research for IP Stars covers over 70 jurisdictions and is carried out over a six-month period by a team of researchers who obtain information from law firms, IP agencies and in-house counsel through surveys and interviews. 

Giles has also been recognised as a World Intellectual Property Review (WIPR) Leader 2025, highlighting his exceptional expertise and peer endorsements in the IP legal sector.
