Browne Jacobson corporate lawyer celebrated at Nottinghamshire Law Society Awards 2021

Browne Jacobson corporate lawyer Sam Sharp is celebrating after being named ‘Solicitor of the Year’ at this year’s annual Nottinghamshire Law Society Awards.

Browne Jacobson corporate lawyer Sam Sharp is celebrating after being named ‘Solicitor of the Year’ at this year’s annual Nottinghamshire Law Society Awards.

Sam who is a senior associate at the national firm’s Nottingham office was awarded the accolade after demonstrating to the judging panel his significant contributions and commitments to the firm, its clients and the wider Nottinghamshire legal community.

Over the last 12 months Sam has been heavily involved in some high profile complex corporate transactional projects on behalf of the firm including a major divestment programme for one of the Browne Jacobson’s larger key corporate clients. He has also led negotiations and project teams on important transactional documentation.

Some of the transactional highlights that Sam has been part of the Browne Jacobson advisory team on includes:

  • the sale of Gill Marine by YFM Equity Partners to Myers Family Office (in conjunction with US based POP Capital
  • the sale of a 49% stake in Midlands based solar panel manufacturer Eco2Solar to utility giant E.ON
  • the Vision Express acquisition of Tesco’s UK and Ireland optician’s business.

Sam is also supporting the growth of the firm’s Higher Education (HE) practice with a place in the HE Leadership Team.

He is also well connected in the local Nottingham business community where he receives direct referrals for works and is involved with various legal community events outside of the firm including the London Marathon which he took part in last month in aid of the London legal Support Trust. Sam also sits on the Browne Jacobson internal sustainability working group where he is helping to drive some of the firm’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

In addition to Sam’s win, Browne Jacobson specialist IP Counsel and former partner, Peter Ellis was shortlisted in the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ category.

The black-tie event took place last night (10 November) at the Newton & Arkwright Building at Nottingham Trent University.
