Browne Jacobson’s corporate finance team is celebrating after being named part of the winning team in the ‘Deal of the Year’ category at this year’s East Midlands Dealmakers for their role in advising Palatine Private Equity on its Fund III backed secondary buyout of Derbyshire based CET UK.
The judges hailed the CET buyout as a major transaction that drew on the services of half the East Midlands’ dealmaking community.
Private equity partner Gareth Davies and corporate finance partner Mark Hughes led the advisory team advising Palatine’s Midlands team of Tony Dickin, Richard Thomas and Tom Hustler. Gareth and Mark were supported by corporate finance partner Gavin Cummings together with Ryan Brown, Clare Hanna and Victoria Tomlinson. Banking advice was provided by Shaun McCabe, Chereta Edmeade and Harpinder Nahl. Tax advice was provided by Beth Dowson.
The firm was also highly commended in the ‘Corporate Law Firm of the Year’ category after a stellar year in which it acted on some of the region’s most high profile deals, some of which were shortlisted at this year’s awards including the secondary buyout of Neilson Active Holidays, the sale of Gill Marine by YFM Equity Partners and the £52m sale of Manthorpe Group to Polypipe.
The firm was also shortlisted in the ‘SME Deal of the Year’ category for its role in BGF’s investment in Blue Light Card and the BGF and BSI backed investment in the BioCity Group.
The awards ceremony, which took place at the Nottingham Belfry, is considered one of the biggest dates in the region’s corporate finance calendar and showcases the achievements of some of the Midlands’ finest corporate dealmakers.
Mark Hughes, corporate finance partner at Browne Jacobson, said:
“This was a significant deal for our client and a testament to the hard work, drive and depth of specialist sector expertise of our team.
“We have had another strong year with high quality transactions across a broad range of sectors for both existing and new clients so we are pleased to have been recognised as one of the leading corporate finance teams in the region.”
