Ascensus Leadership Programme for In-house Counsel
We are excited to announce the launch of our Ascensus Leadership Programme, commencing on 1 October 2024.
This interactive two-day course, supplemented by virtual modules, is tailored to equip Heads of Department with the skills and support necessary to excel as a leader in today's complex legal landscape.
The role of General Counsel has become increasingly challenging in recent times. With the legal landscape evolving rapidly and the growing use of artificial intelligence, those in General Counsel and Head of Legal Department roles are under greater pressure to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their functions.
To help equip Heads of Legal and General Counsel for their senior leadership roles, we have partnered with O Shaped to develop a tailored programme which will assist leaders in balancing the competing responsibilities of leading a legal team while striving towards becoming effective business leaders.
We consulted with current senior leaders in the legal profession to identify the skills, competencies, and leadership capabilities required to succeed in the top role; based on this feedback, expert advice from leadership consultants and wider market data, our programme will provide participants with unique insights, best practices, and strategies to ensure their success.

Welcome dinner
Ahead of the programme commencing, we will be hosting a three-course welcome dinner at Cecconi’s on the evening of 1 October. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and connect with the facilitators and other participants before the programme begins.
Empowering you for success
General Counsel discuss best practice and share experiences under Chatham House Rule. We will talk about the importance of building sustainable connections in your business and increasing collaboration and trust.
Leading with confidence and creativity
During this part of the course you will learn how to effectively manage both upwards and downwards simultaneously and hear practical strategies for engaging with your board. You will also explore the necessary skills to inspire and motivate others and how to develop the confidence needed to implement change.
