Matt is a partner in our corporate team who is based in the Midlands. He focuses on private equity transactions (acting for both sponsors and management) and complex mergers and acquisitions.

Matt’s clients include private equity funds, management teams and national and international corporates.

Matt works closely with a number of private equity sponsors including LDC, BGF, Apiary Capital and Foresight Group, and corporate clients including Camfaud Group, Metric Search and Phenna Group. He is noted as ‘a key contact for private equity and venture capital transactions’ by the Legal 500. He is also a particularly experienced buy-side M&A lawyer and advises on a number of ‘buy and build’ strategies.

Matt thrives working on complex, high-value, and often cross-border, transactions. Recent deals include advising the shareholders of Metric Search (including BGF) on its $100m valuation investment by US private equity firm Southfield Capital, advising the shareholders of Carbon Underwriting (including Apiary Capital) on its landmark investment by US private equity firm FTV Capital, advising the shareholders of Transvac Systems on its sale to NYSE-listed Ingersoll Rand, advising Camfaud Group on its acquisition of Templant Hire and advising on the sale of subsea testing specialist C-Kore to Motive Offshore Group.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Matt worked in a trading role within the fast-moving consumer goods sector and helped a number of international brands and household names do business in the discount channel.
