Katie Connell

Katie is a senior associate in our financial and professional risks team acting for professional indemnity insurers and their policyholders. Katie has extensive experience defending claims against a wide range of professionals including solicitors, surveyors, architects, construction professionals, insurance brokers, independent financial advisors and accountants. 

Katie has a particular focus on defending solicitors against claims arising out of all practice areas including commercial contracts, wills, employment law, matrimonial disputes, commercial and residential conveyancing, as well as personal injury under-settlement claims, and cases with limitation issues.  

Katie has experience of handling high value and complex claims. Most notably she has assisted in the defence of a £100m claim brought by a property development company against a conveyancing team and is heavily involved in defending the leasehold ground rent claims being brought against residential conveyancers. 

Katie is a promoter of early dispute resolution and takes a pragmatic approach to defending claims. She handles claims through various forms of alternative dispute resolution including the Legal Ombudsman, adjudication and mediation as well as through the courts.
