Law firm Browne Jacobson has collaborated with Alliance Network for a panel event that will bring together some of the region’s most diverse employers and will be the first event under the newly extended LGBTQI+ network that targets the East Midlands business community, Alliance Network East Midlands.

The virtual event which takes place tomorrow (Thursday 29 April) will focus on the importance of intersectionality and will aim to promote and share best practice, highlight how employers in the network can support inclusivity and promote the East Midlands as a diverse workforce destination hot spot.

The panel will include contributions from Rev Jide Macaulay from House of Rainbow, Maryam Din from Stonewall / QTIPOC Notts, Luke Williams from BPP and Dr Ju Gosling from Regard.

James Arrowsmith, partner in Browne Jacobson’s social care practice has driven the steering group that has set up the East Midlands branch of the Alliance Network and co-ordinated the event along with support from trainee lawyer, Hannah Collins. The steering group is also made up of various other local businesses and organisations.

James Arrowsmith commented:

“I’m passionate about our region and supporting and promoting the talented people and great organisations in it. I’m also very passionate about diversity and inclusion, and the need for organisations to keep working to better represent the communities outside their doors.

“Strong diversity networks that cross organisational boundaries are a great way for us to work together to share experience, ideas and challenges, and to support and engage with our communities.

“While Covid restrictions have impacted on so many events over the last 12 months, it has shown how effectively people can be brought together through technology. It’s also shown the important part networks and communities play in so many people’s lives. So, it feels like a perfect time to be launching the East Midlands Alliance Network.

“It has been fantastic to be able to have partnered with the Alliance Network and so many other regional employers to establish this network and to launch what promises to be a very thought provoking and engaging event. I am looking forward to making connections with more of the region’s leading organisations and businesses through this really exciting and innovative project.”
