Tom leads our recruitment, onboarding and social mobility functions and is a senior member of the firm's People team. With 20+ years’ experience, Tom’s remit is broad and covers the firm’s talent and resourcing strategy, selection methodologies, employer brand development, onboarding, and new joiner integration processes.

In short, Tom’s teams are responsible for ensuring the firm attracts, selects, and embeds the very best, most diverse talent the market has to offer. In addition to the legal profession, Tom’s experience includes time within Retail, Leisure, and Real Estate. Tom has been instrumental in Browne Jacobson’s positive impact on social mobility within the legal profession and beyond.

In 2019, Tom created the firm’s now multi-award winning FAIRE programme and has overseen the firm’s activity around socioeconomic inclusion. Those actions have helped the firm achieve the number 1 ranking in The Social Mobility Foundation’s Employer Index on four separate occasions.

Tom’s passion and enthusiasm for driving social mobility is infectious and he is a regular advocate on the topic within schools, universities, government bodies, local councils and to private sector clients. Tom encourages everyone to "do more" when it comes to removing access and progression barriers for careers within the legal profession and is keen to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed no matter what their background is.
