National law firm Browne Jacobson has improved its status as one of the UK’s leading law firms with an impressive set of rankings in the latest edition of Legal 500, the independent directory of comparative law firm performance.

The firm was ranked as a top tier firm in 29 specialist areas and retained its position as a regional heavyweight in the East Midlands. The firm also improved its rankings for Personal Injury: Defendant in the West Midlands and Commercial Litigation in the North West. In addition, the Corporate and Commercial: Venture Capital, Insurance and Reinsurance Litigation and Media & Entertainment practices in London also jumped up a tier. The firm’s Manchester based Banking Finance and Charities & Not-For-Profit teams were also ranked for the first time as was its Construction: Contentious practice in London.

The latest edition of the directory also identified 28 of the firm’s lawyers as ‘leading individuals’, four in the ‘next generation partners’ category and nine ‘rising stars’.

Iain Blatherwick, Managing Partner, said:

“We are delighted to have built on the success of previous years with another set of excellent rankings for our core sectors.

“It is also very encouraging to see a really high number of colleagues being recognised individually for their dedication and hard work in their specialist areas.

“This year’s results are testament to the strength in depth of our sector and service line expertise and our offering of exceptional high quality client service – the main drivers of our business which we remain fully committed to.

Rankings in Legal 500 are based on extensive research, including interviews with and feedback from both clients and private practice lawyers, to identify those firms and practitioners who are providing cutting edge and innovative advice to their clients.
