About Mark
Mark is a Partner and Head of Browne Jacobson's education practice. With over 25 years’ experience as an education lawyer, Mark has long been recommended as a leader in his field in the industry bibles ‘Chambers UK’ and ‘Legal 500’. ‘Chambers UK’ has dubbed him “an industry leader” and ‘Legal 500’ includes him in their 'Hall of Fame', which highlights law firm partners who are 'at the pinnacle of the profession'. Mark has also been designated as a National Leader of Governance by the Department for Education.
Mark has over 20 years’ experience of serving in governance roles in the school, academy and further education sectors.
Mark has recently completed a 10-year tenure as the Chair of the L.E.A.D Academy Trust, a 25 school multi-academy trust operating in the East Midlands, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire region. He is now the Trust's Vice Chair and works with the Trust’s senior leadership team and Board to oversee the education of over 10,500 children and young people.
Mark is a Trustee of the National Association for Special Educational Needs. He is regularly invited to speak at national conferences including those of the CST, ASCL, NAHT, ISBL and NGA.
In 2021, Mark was included in the 'Disability Power 100', the annual publication recognising the success and influence of individuals, disabled or living with an impairment, who through their own example are inspiring others to achieve their full potential.
Mark was also named in The Lawyer’s ‘Hot 100’ listing for 2022 which identifies legal professionals from private practice, in-house and the Bar who have excelled in playing a critical – and relevant role in shaping the legal profession in the previous 12 months.
