Catherine Flannery

Catherine is a senior associate in our health advisory and litigation team specialising in inquests. She joined Browne Jacobson with a background in healthcare regulation having worked in-house at the GMC and a medical defence organisation. Catherine has recently been appointed to sit as a Deputy District Judge hearing civil cases on the Northern Circuit.

Catherine has extensive experience of representing NHS Trusts and private healthcare providers at complex and high-profile inquests. She regularly represents clients at Article 2 inquests held before a jury, providing support throughout the investigation and as advocate at the inquest hearing. Clients find Catherine's approach to be straightforward and down to earth and she is noted for her ability to support witnesses through the often difficult process of giving evidence at inquest.

Catherine also advises on a range of other health law related issues and frequently delivers training on inquests and other areas of health law.
