Antony is a commercially focused and technical expert in litigation and arbitration, who has built up a strong practice specialising in complex and international disputes, principally in insurance and reinsurance.

Antony advises insurance and reinsurance clients on all types of contracts, including energy risks, property and business interruption, general, product and professional liability, E&O, D&O, financial lines and subrogation issues.

His reinsurance expertise includes handling matters following large market losses, such as COVID-19, California Wildfires, Deepwater Horizon, Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma, as well as major energy plant explosions and MtBE exposures. These matters have included traditional facultative and treaty reinsurances as well as ILWs and collateralised contracts.

He is experienced in international arbitration, both ad hoc and in accordance with various rules, including UNCITRAL, ARIAS, ICSID and LCIA. He has a lot of experience in cross-border disputes and in presenting foreign legal issues to tribunals in England and elsewhere.

He is particularly recognised for his arbitration work relating to the Bermuda Form. He has contributed chapters to various American Bar Association publications relating to General Liability on the Bermuda Form, the London Market and contractual interpretation under English law.

Orthopaedic surgeon negligence

Representing Bermuda and London market carriers in separate healthcare liability disputes in arbitration relating to a negligent orthopaedic surgeon in the US.

PFAS exposure coverage

Representing a US carrier in London arbitration proceedings over PFAS exposures for a large US corporate.

US personal injury class action

Representing a Bermuda carrier in arbitration proceedings relating to liabilities for personal injuries in the US largest class action to date.

Cyber liability binding authority

Representing three separate London market insurers in a dispute over Cyber Liability claims under a Binding Authority.

Wildfire, COVID-19 and multi-loss reinsurance

Advising a Bermuda reinsurer in relation to several different coverage issues under collateralised reinsurances relating to California Wildfire, COVID-19 and other losses.

Lehman Dante programme: Bank exposure

Outside insurance, representing two large European banks in handling their exposures to the Lehman backed Dante programme of credit linked notes.
