The Government has announced a £1 billion investment to support British businesses in adopting zero emission trucks and vans and enhancing electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Commenting on the news, Zoe Stollard, Partner in Energy and infrastructure, said:
"The Government's £1 billion investment package is a meaningful intervention. The grants directly address the capital cost barriers that have been slowing commercial fleet transition. For the project finance and infrastructure investment community, this level of public funding commitment helps de-risk private investment and should catalyse further activity in depot charging and grid connection projects.
“However, grid capacity and connection timescales remain a structural bottleneck that funding alone cannot resolve. The real test will be whether planning and network infrastructure reform keeps pace with the ambition set out today, without that, delivery will fall short of the policy intent."
