Simon now mainly focuses upon inquest work for NHS trusts, advising and representing trusts across the country at inquest hearings. He draws upon his past experience of sitting as an Assistant Coroner for nine years in the West Midlands.  

He provides representation at a wide range of inquests including hospital deaths, deaths in the community, in care homes, mental health related and involving ambulance services. These inquests can be Article 2 or non-Article 2, with or without juries, lasting from half a day up to 11 weeks. 

He has advised on health care-related matters, acting for a wide range of NHS trusts and other organisations, NHS Resolution and the private sector. This has included advising on mental health legal issues, including appearing for trusts in the Court of Protection, as well as representing NHS Trusts in the First Tier (Information Rights) Tribunal, the appellant body from decisions of the Information Commissioner. 

Simon has provided training to NHS clients through workshops, mock inquests or talks, covering a wide range of medico- legal subjects, delivering these to doctors, nurses, NHS managers and other NHS staff. He also attends and advises ethics committees of NHS trusts.
