Shannon Fahy is a senior associate in the commercial disputes and investigations team at Browne Jacobson's Dublin office, specialising in intellectual property. She advises both domestic and international clients across a range of sectors with contentious and non-contentious IP matters, from trade mark protection and brand enforcement to patent infringement and IP due diligence.
Experience and expertise
Shannon is the Dublin office’s representative for the wider Browne Jacobson food and drink sector team. In addition to food and drink manufacturers, Shannon has advised a range of clients including entertainment and media, design, pharmaceutical, medical, and healthcare companies, hospitality businesses, engineering, AI technology and biotechnology companies, manufacturing and automotive companies, and technology start-ups.
Intellectual property
She has experience working on IP matters including those relating to trade mark protection / infringement, defence and prosecution of trade mark challenges brought before the IPOI and EUIPO, copyright infringement, passing off, IP portfolio management, brand protection, patent infringement, and IP due diligence for corporate transactions, among other matters.
Commercial disputes
While Shannon predominantly deals with intellectual property disputes, she has rounded commercial experience and regularly advises clients on injunctions, competition law, construction contract disputes, defamation claims, professional negligence claims, contractual breaches, shareholder disputes, company restorations, and winding-up petitions – to name but a few. She routinely acts in proceedings before the Superior Courts in Ireland, in particular the Commercial Division of the High Court.
Digital services and social media
Shannon has also advised social media clients as well as businesses using such platforms, in relation to takedown requests and injunctions, in the context of IP infringement and defamation claims. She is well-versed in the workings of the Digital Services Act and how it impacts intermediary service providers. Shannon has well-rounded knowledge on how to assess takedown requests received by intermediary service providers, having previously worked in-house as a secondee for one of the world’s largest social media companies.

Shannon is a registered Trade Mark Agent in Ireland and a registered representative at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
