Norma has over 15 years’ experience in defendant insurance litigation, dealing with and assisting on high value and complex claims of the utmost severity- ranging from brain injuries, spinal injuries, complex orthopaedic injuries to amputation claims.
Her experience includes public and employers’ liability as well as claims arising from road traffic accidents.
Norma handles matters from inception to settlement, dealing with liability, quantum, and causation issues. She adopts a practical and commercial approach, working collaboratively to achieve resolution for clients in a cost-effective way.
Experience
Road traffic accident: Passenger
Represented the Insurer of a driver whose passenger sustained multiple injuries when the car in which he was driving went off the road.
Road traffic accident: Amputation
Assisted in a claim where a driver sustained a traumatic below knee amputation as a result of being struck by another driver during an extreme weather event causing poor visibility.
Road traffic accident: Brain injury
Assisted in a claim where we represented an Insurer, the claim was brought by a minor claimant who sustained a severe brain injury when she was 18 months old as a result of being struck by a motorcyclist.
Employer's liability: Fall from height
Represented an employer where an employee fell from an extended lift at work, sustaining multiple orthopaedic injuries, as well as head and facial injuries. The Insurer funded rehabilitation, and settlement was achieved pre litigation.
