Karen is an experienced legal professional with a background in defending employer's liability and public liability claims brought against a variety of corporate organisations. During this time, she also dealt with cases involving alleged false imprisonment and Article 2 inquests where death has occurred whilst in prison, police custody, immigration centres and whilst under secure escort. She also assisted with Judicial Reviews and an Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.
Currently, Karen works in Clinical Negligence team where she represents NHS Trusts in a variety of cases ranging from complex birth injury cases to misdiagnosed cancer cases. She is currently working on a Group Action claim.
Karen understands the difficulties and stresses that a clinician involved in these types of cases can face, as well as the commercial needs of the indemnifier. She resolves cases promptly and understands the importance of weighing up the benefits of litigation and the associated costs, advising NHS Resolution and Trusts on the benefits and risks of litigation in a clear and realistic manner.
