Dafydd Hughes

Dafydd is an Associate Solicitor in the Health and Advisory Litigation Team based in Cardiff, specialising in Adult Neurological injury. He has over 20 years’ experience of working on cases involving injury and clinical negligence, both from the Claimant side and Defendant.

Dafydd has acted for a range of clinical indemnifiers and insurers including NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts across the country, and medical malpractice insurance firms. Dafydd has acted on a wide variety of clinical negligence cases to include type of injury, complexity, and value.

Dafydd began his career working for Claimants and securing damages for people suffering incidents involving personal injury and clinical negligence of all types and complexities. After a period of working in-house for a multi-national insurance firm, Dafydd then transitioned to working within the Defendant clinical negligence sector and became involved with closely assisting clinicians, the NHS, in-house medical legal teams, and indemnifiers from around the country with resolving disputes.

Dafydd’s experience includes cases involving catastrophic and fatal circumstances, traumatic obstetric and maternity issues, significant psychiatric injury, as well as unusual/technical points of law. Dafydd endeavours to resolve cases on a collaborative basis as far as possible, ensuring sensitivity and working with Claimants as well as maintaining strong and productive relationships with the legal teams involved on the Defendant side.
