Ben is a Legal Director within our real estate team and has over a decade of experience in advising on commercial real estate transactions. He is based in our Belfast office and is qualified to practise in both Northern Ireland and England and Wales.
Ben acts for a variety of clients on a wide range of transactional real estate matters with a specific focus on the acquisition and disposal of commercial property, together with landlord and tenant work. He also frequently advises on the real estate aspects of large corporate transactions across a variety of sectors.
Ben was educated at the University of Liverpool. He gained a distinction on the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Chester and was awarded the Timpron Martin Prize by Liverpool Law Society for his achievement in those professional examinations.
Ben then trained and practised as a real estate lawyer with DLA Piper UK LLP before relocating to Northern Ireland in January 2017. He is qualified to practise in Northern Ireland and England and Wales.
Ben’s recent experience includes advising:
- On the real estate aspects of W&R Barnett’s acquisition of a majority shareholding in the Symphony Group, one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of fitted kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture.
- Well-known trade suppliers on various matters across their property portfolio in Northern Ireland.
- On the acquisition and development financing of a previously multi-let office building in London for residential redevelopment.
- A digital technology company on their letting of Grade A office space in Birmingham.
- Poundstretcher on a range of matters across their Northern Irish retail portfolio.
