Championing Social Care Announces Clare Auty, Partner at Browne Jacobson has joined as an Ambassador

06 June 2023

Championing Social Care is delighted to announce that Clare Auty, Partner and Head of Independent Health and Care at Browne Jacobson, has joined the initiative as an Ambassador. Clare brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role and will provide even more leadership to an already established group of leaders.

Clare brings with her the knowledge gained at Browne Jacobson in improving diversity and inclusion. The firm has established a national reputation for its commitment to promoting social mobility in the legal profession. Since 2016 the firm has implemented a series of ground-breaking initiatives including revolutionising its trainee recruitment processes by removing academic barriers, anonymising applications and focusing its outreach work on social mobility ‘cold spots’.

In 2021, the firm launched FAIRE (Fairer Access into Real Experience) – a unique programme offering work experience opportunities to candidates specifically from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Its annual FAIRE events have now attracted 23,500+ students from 2000+ schools, and its virtual insight event in 2022 was the largest legal virtual work experience event in the UK, with 3300+ attendees taking part.

The firm also launched a dedicated mentoring scheme for aspiring Black lawyers, partnered with Forage to launch an interactive online work experience programme to broaden access for aspiring young lawyers and was chosen to be one of only 13 UK businesses who will form the Social Mobility Commission’s (SMC) new Employer Advisory Group.

Browne Jacobson will also join Championing Social Care as sponsor of Care Home Open Week 2023, providing resources and guidance to help deliver yet another outstanding event.

Championing Social Care is a volunteer-led group of leaders from across the social care sector. The vision is to ensure a wider and deeper public understanding, appreciation and respect for social care. The initiative has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2018 and its flagship programmes are now a key part of the care sector calendar.

Clare Auty, Partner and Head of Independent Health and Care, Browne Jacobson, said:

“I am delighted to have joined Championing Social Care as an Ambassador. I am passionate about the care sector and I recognise and applaud the compassionate care it provides to the most vulnerable people in society. It is time to shine a light on the care sector and celebrate all the valuable work that it does.”

Niharika Noakes, Director, Championing Social Care, shared:

“We are so pleased to have Clare join the Championing Social Care. Clare will bring excellent visionary skills and expertise to the team. She will add outstanding leadership to what is already a hugely talented group of leaders. I am confident that Championing Social Care can further strengthen and grow its audiences and deliver even more success in the future.”
