Browne Jacobson’s intellectual property practice, along with six of its lawyers, has been ranked in one of the world's leading guides to intellectual property (IP) firms and practitioners.

The national firm has been particularly recognised in Managing Intellectual Property’s latest IP Stars rankings for its contentious trade mark expertise.

In addition to the firm accolade, Declan Cushley, head of the firm’s IP team and IP partner Mark Daniels are individually ranked as trade mark stars. Mark is also ranked as a patent star whilst IP partner Selina Hinchliffe is ranked as a transactions star.

Following on from being named one of Europe’s ‘Rising Stars’ at the recent Rising Stars Awards Europe for his trade mark expertise, partner Giles Parsons is ranked as a notable practitioner whilst senior associate Nick Smee and associate Faye McConnell are both ranked as rising stars.

The research for IP Stars covers over 70 jurisdictions and is carried out over a six-month period by a team of researchers who obtain information from law firms, IP agencies and in-house counsel through surveys and interviews.

Declan Cushley, said:

“We are delighted to be recognised again for the excellence of our IP offering. We operate in a highly competitive market and to be consistently ranked year on year is a true testament to the strength and depth of our expertise and quality of our client service offering that we as a whole team bring to the table.

“We also have a strong track record in nurturing diverse young talent so I’m particularly delighted to see that this is being reflected in this year’s rankings.”

Browne Jacobson’s 21-strong national specialist IP practice has extensive experience spanning the whole range of IP rights from various trade mark, design, patent and copyright infringement matters to R&D and collaboration agreements. Alongside its ranking by Managing Intellectual Property, it is recognised by Chambers as “a go-to firm for heavyweight IP matters by its clients” and is ranked by World Trademark Review, and IAM Patent 1000, as well as Chambers and Legal 500. The team has extensive experience assisting a premium client portfolio of some of the world’s leading global household names and luxury brands. The team is also regularly instructed to handle a number of the UK’s leading cases and has helped shape IP law in the UK and Europe.
