Jamahl is an Associate Solicitor specialising in Adult Social Care and the Court of Protection. He advises and represents local authorities in all aspects relating to Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Care Act 2014, including ordinary residence disputes. His approach focuses on robust advice and representation to ensure that the client’s outcome and objects are achieved pragmatically.
Highly adept at managing complex and sensitive legal issues, delivering clear and strategic advice, and producing robust reports and guidance. Known for exceptional client care, with strong and measured communication skills that build trust and effectively manage diverse and often challenging client expectations. With experience as representing P on behalf of the Official Solicitor, and as an inhouse solicitor for a local authority, Jamahl has a unique skill of experiencing these proceedings from both positions.
Jamahl is experienced in advocacy within the Court of Protection, acting for both applicants and respondents in proceedings under sections 21A and 16 of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Further experience includes representing local authorities at inquests pursuant to the Coroners and Justice Act 2009. Whilst working as an inhouse local authority solicitor, in addition to advising and representing the local authority within Court of Protection enquiries, Jamahl routinely advised on all aspects relating to the local authority duties under Care Act 2014 including frequent issues such as ordinary residence disputes, deprivation of assets, care planning, and safeguarding.
