Browne Jacobson has been ranked for its work in both patent litigation and transactional work in the 2021 edition of IAM Patent 1000, the independent guide to the world’s leading patent law firms and practitioners.

The latest guide describes Browne Jacobson as a “dynamic firm with a young, talented team” and identifies Mark Daniels Giles Parsons and Selina Hinchliffe as three of its leading practitioners.

The firm’s “formidable” patent litigation credentials are singled out for particular praise, with researchers noting the team’s growing reputation for providing “cost-effective, commercially savvy counsel across all areas of corporate law”. In doing so Browne Jacobson is “already disrupting the well-established IP litigation firms in the UK”.

Head of the patent litigation team Mark Daniels is praised for handling “complicated matters effortlessly, has a practical and diligent approach, and coordinates resources effectively”, whilst Giles Parsons is described as having “a great intellect and knowledge of case law, as well as the ability to grapple with the most complex matters, rapidly absorbing the information and providing clients with a reasoned way forward. There is no technology he cannot understand and advise on.” On the transactional side Selina Hinchliffe comes “highly recommended by her university clients and has also carved a niche in the utilities and energy sectors.”

The latest IAM1000 rankings follow on from the firm’s recent strong showing in Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Stars rankings for 2021 in which six of the firm’s practitioners, including Mark Daniels, Giles Parsons and Selina Hinchcliffe, were recognised as leading practitioners.

Browne Jacobson’s 21-strong national specialist IP practice has extensive experience spanning the whole range of IP rights from various trade mark, design, patent and copyright infringement matters to R&D and collaboration agreements. Alongside its ranking by IAM Patent 1000, it is recognised by Chambers, Legal 500, Managing Intellectual Property and World Trademark Review. The team has extensive experience assisting a premium client portfolio of some of the world’s leading global household names and luxury brands. The team is also regularly instructed to handle a number of the UK’s leading cases and has helped shape IP law in the UK and Europe.
