The Access Group has unveiled its new Loughborough headquarters thanks to a ground breaking partnership between Leicestershire County Council (LCC) and Loughborough University.

Kassra Powles and Holly Chadwick from Browne Jacobson's Nottingham based real estate team advised Leicestershire County Council on the deal, which is believed to be the largest, single-occupier office deal in the county this century.

The company’s new 109,000 sq. ft. office will house around one-third of its 3000-plus UK workforce and is located at the 438 acre Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP), one of the largest Science Parks in the UK.

The Access Group, which is expected to move into its new home in early 2021, is one of the country’s fastest growing software companies, supporting over 35,0000 UK companies in areas such as ERP, finance, HR, payroll, recruitment, education, warehousing, business intelligence, professional service automation and manufacturing.

The investment by LCC will generate £1.6m revenue a year that will be invested in vital front-line county council services.

Nick Rushton, Leader of Leicestershire County Council, said:

“This underlines the strength of Leicestershire as a great place to do business as well as the county council’s place at the forefront of the drive for growth and innovation. It also cements Loughborough’s growing global reputation as a business and innovation centre and shows that Leicestershire is truly open for business.

“Our approach of building new workspaces is creating jobs and boosting the economy, which is vital in securing a good recovery from the COVID pandemic, and crucially, it means we can invest more into services such as maintaining our roads and supporting vulnerable people.”

Kassra Powles, senior associate at Browne Jacobson added:

“As a national powerhouse our 70 strong real estate team has substantial experience advising local authorities on innovative real estate ventures designed to boost local economies and support investment in front line services.

“Attracting one of the UK’s leading tech businesses to LUSEP is a major coup for Leicestershire County Council and the University and we are delighted to have acted on this pioneering venture.”
