Sophie Pickard

Sophie joined Browne Jacobson in September 2021, following the successful completion of an LLB (Newcastle University) and a Master’s in Legal Practice, incorporating the LPC (Northumbria University). She works exclusively in our education practice, advising our school, academy and Higher Education clients.

Sophie supports on various client’s matters in relation to the corporate and governance aspects of projects including academy conversions, mergers and transfers. Drafting Commercial Transfer Agreements, Funding Agreements and Church Supplemental Agreements and involvement in the negotiation of these documents throughout the process.

Sophie works closely with our governance and charity specialists on regulation and governance matters including changes to governance arrangements and the adoption of new Articles of Association.

Sophie has previously worked with our Business Development Managers on events and tenders for the education team. She has been involved with the launch of our new tender software, distribution of quarterly newsletters, and the development of content for our website.

Sophie works in supporting our education clients as part of the Co Sec service ensuring compliance with their company law duties. Sophie maintains company registers and deals with Companies House filings for Academy Trusts. She also deals with changes to governance and PSC status.
