Shakira is a core member of our social housing litigation sub team. Predominantly working for housing associations and local authorities, Shakira responds to various housing conditions claims handling both pre-litigation and litigated claims and also has experience within personal injury.
Shakira is a legal assistant in the technical claims team. Shakira takes a pragmatic approach when advising on liability and recommending reserves. Understanding clients’ business objectives, Shakira proactively monitors case developments to continually review and advise clients on their strategic options. She liaises with experts to ensure compliant reports are received, facilitates actions to strengthen clients’ liability positions including obtaining and reviewing documentary evidence, liaising with witnesses and drafting statements and drafting pleadings. In order to reach a positive outcome, Shakira takes a robust stance to defend clients where appropriate and ensures settlement terms are favourable to her clients for those claims where liability is conceded.
Shakira is also a member of the Community Action Group, organising various fundraisers and events, whilst having an interest in and taking an active role to promote diversity and inclusion initiatives within the firm.
