Martin is an experienced construction lawyer acting for both contractors and employers within the construction market. Recognised by the legal directories as a leading expert on the operation of PFI/PPP contracts and disputes occurring under them. Martin brings experience to offer practical solutions rather than embarking upon extensive dispute procedures.
Martin started his career in the in-house team of a national contractor and has continuously offered support on both contentious and non-contentious matters to contractors operating in the UK market. The construction of social infrastructure for health and education clients became a speciality when capital was available and at the start of PFI Martin became involved in the practical operation of the projects subject to this procurement method and unlike many practitioners continued to advise throughout the project term and is now advising on Project Handback.
Advising in a practical pragmatic style for both employers and contractors, focusing upon creating structures that avoid conflict and when conflict arises helping deliver solutions focused upon a commercial rather than legal outcome is a hallmark of Martin’s advice.
Martin is a qualified adjudicator, arbitrator and mediator and regularly sits as an adjudicator in construction/PFI disputes.
