About Matthew

Matthew leads our antitrust and competition law team where he advises on both behavioural competition law and UK and multi-jurisdictional merger control. His behavioural work includes advising national and multi-national clients on pricing and distribution strategies and abuse of dominance issues. He also advises on anti bribery compliance.

Matthew has defended numerous clients in investigations by the CMA, the UK’s concurrent competition law regulators and the European Commission as well as making leniency / immunity applications and dealing with CMA warning letters. He also advises clients on developing and implementing tailored competition law compliance programmes including running face to face and online training and workshop sessions for employees and putting in place internet-based training modules.

In the field of anti bribery compliance, Matthew has extensive experience of advising clients on putting in place ‘adequate procedures’ to deal with the strict liability corporate bribery offence under the UK Bribery Act. He has worked with clients in a diverse range of sectors such as luxury fashion, manufacturing, retail, construction, agriculture, health and insurance.
