about Alex
Alex is a commercial IP partner. He is an expert in brand protection and promotion and leads the firm’s advertising and marketing team. He regularly handles consumer issues and specialises particularly in commercial transactions that have a large IP component, which have included: distribution agreements, franchising arrangements, copyright and trademark licensing, data protection issues, publishing agreements, co-branding partnerships, sponsorship and advertising issues (particularly in respect of 'experiential' advertising), brand strategy, event sponsorship and event production. He also works regularly with both galleries and artists and has an Art & Cultural Property practice which legal directories have described as being a 'superb team'.
Having worked on secondment in house a number of times (with Universal Pictures, the Telegraph Media Group and the BBC) he has a good sense of what in house counsel are looking for, and has been praised by the Legal 500 for keeping matters straightforward for other purchasers of legal services, with “great experience of intellectual property law” and “a great way of explaining the situation and legal process”.
