Browne Jacobsons counter fraud team grows with new appointment

Browne Jacobson has strengthened its counter fraud team with the appointment of Intelligence Manager Mike Tuffin.

Mike has more than 10 years expertise and experience in counter fraud intelligence and was most recently Head of Intelligence at Greenwoods Solicitors. Prior to joining Greenwoods in 2011 he held intelligence positions at Keogh Solicitors, Cahoot and Abbey National. His specialism lies in all areas of intelligence from fraud detection, financial risk assessment and intelligence analysis to private and criminal investigations and anti-money laundering matters, with specific experience in the banking and insurance sectors.

Mike will be based in the firms Birmingham office and will report directly to Paul Wainwright, Partner and Head of Counter Fraud. Browne Jacobsons highly regarded counter fraud team specialises in handling first and third party fraud in employers liability, public liability and motor claims for a range of sectors, including insurers and local authorities.

Reaction: Supreme Court rules no duty of care in negligence in Poole Borough Council v GN and another

This morning (6 June) the Supreme Court has handed down its decision in Poole Borough Council v GN and another. The court dismissed the appeal and upheld the decision in the lower court that the claim should be struck out. The claim addresses broad issues with the potential to impact on negligence claims against many public bodies including health and education.
