Most clinical staff are called to give evidence at an inquest during their career, are you prepared?

It is important that NHS professionals understand their responsibility at inquests. This one day course provides essential knowledge, delivered by the Coroner for Derby and South Derbyshire and other legal experts, equipping delegates with the tools and insight needed to handle inquests confidently and compassionately.

Key facts

  • Did you know that since 2000, coroners’ inquests have increased by 25% to 35,473 in 2015?
  • Did you know that the Ministry of Justice published its first report on coroners’ Regulation 28 recommendations in July 2009?
  • Do you know how best to assist the coroner in an investigation and when giving oral evidence in court?

About the mock coroner’s inquest

The mock coroner’s inquest will be the focus of the afternoon. Presided over by the Coroner for Derby and South Derbyshire, the mock inquest will be an accurate re-enactment of a real life inquest. This will provide delegates with a realistic experience of what the coroner’s court is like, from opening to verdict.
