exclusions: keeping you informed

2:00 PM - 2:45 PM GMT

Earlier this year Edward Timpson’s review on school exclusions raised the profile of the practice of exclusions, managed moves and alternative provision. Head teachers and governors are now under increasing scrutiny to conduct the end-to-end process in a fair and consistent manner (and in line with the statutory guidance) to ensure that the best possible outcome for the school, its staff, its pupils and the parents is achieved.

Pupil behaviour and exclusions can frequently become an emotive issue and, in our experience, can be an area where a school is at significant risk. With the Department for Education welcoming Timpson’s initial findings, and changes in statutory guidance expected in the near future, it’s important to take time out to remind ourselves of the current regulations and provide clarity on the responsibilities of staff and governors.

In this short webinar, led by Senior Associate Hayley O’Sullivan, we will explore the current exclusions landscape, look at propsective changes to policy and practice and share examples of best practice to help you avoid common pit-falls when it comes to managing exclusions.

Hayley will also provide an overview to the existing statutory guidance, proposed developments in relation to managed moves and alternative provision and share her thoughts on the anticipated changes in regulation as a result of the review.

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions during the live session, but please feel free to send in any questions you may have in advance.

If you can't make our webinar please feel free to sign up and we will email a copy of the webinar recording out afterwards. A recording will also be available to watch from our LinkedIn showcase page after the live session.
