The new school year is here and September and October is certainly one of the busiest times of the year for school business managers. For the majority, it is the financial year end and the preparation of the financial statements will be underway and I am sure, like me, you have an extremely long list of audit requirements to prepare for the external auditors. It would be fantastic if we all had time to focus on finances at this time of year, but the responsibilities of the role are far greater that simply finance and it is the case of juggling the finance alongside HR, ICT, Estates and many other commitments.
Preparation, planning and delegation are my watch words to help me through this time of year. Below I have included my top five tips to ensure I am fully prepared and ready for the auditors’ arrival.
