"We're all going on a summer...work placement scheme..."

15 January 2015

It’s this wet and windy time of year (once you have accepted your ‘mince pie’ gut is here to stay and that 2015 isn’t going to be the year you stick to your resolutions after all…) that the mind often wanders to making plans for the summer. For many, this might be a trip down to the travel agents or endless comparison of the costs of flights to exotic destinations. But for the would-be lawyers among you, the focus this summer might be something entirely different – getting some legal work experience.

It is no secret that the legal market is increasingly competitive and getting a foot in the door of a law firm is tough. With this in mind, we are reintroducing our summer work placement scheme in July this year. The ten lucky people on our scheme will have the opportunity to experience what life as a lawyer at our Nottingham office is really like, meeting our people (possibly your colleagues of the future!) and getting involved in the kind of work we do.

If you would like to have the opportunity to see how we work first-hand, applications are open now and will remain open until 17 March 2015. We welcome applications from those who are second year law students or final year non-law students, as well as from those who are further along in their academic studies, or individuals who may be considering a change of career.

Perhaps the only thing higher up on an aspiring lawyer’s wish-list than a summer placement is a training contract -unfortunately not something that you will have found in your Santa stocking! We are currently hiring for a September 2017 start. We are hoping to recruit some of our trainees directly from the work placement scheme, but are also accepting applications via our website, and will be until 31 July 2015.

So what are you waiting for? Step away from the shiny holiday brochures and check out our website (as well as other blogs you’ll find on here from our past and current trainees) to see why the best way to spend your summer might just be with us…
