The Diamond Jubilee- Community Action in Birmingham!

21 June 2012

In the run up to diamond jubilee the Birmingham Community Action Committee organised BJ’s own tribute to the queen in the form of a week of exciting events in for the Birmingham office, raising money for our nominated charity, SoLO.

When we got in on Monday morning the office looked fantastic, Union Jack flags hanging in every department really got everyone in the patriotic spirit!

We kicked off the week with a “bake off”- what better way to defeat the Monday morning blues? We encouraged everybody to try more than one cake and vote for their favourite. We had a brilliant turnout with a range of cakes on offer- from a Chocolate and Guinness Cake to a Berry Cheesecake (both very yummy!). The winner was announced at the end of the day- more for the prestige of winning than an actual prize.

The cake sale proved a good start to an action- packed week. We organised a quiz on Wednesday and were surprised how excited (and competitive) people got about the crown making competition over lunch time!

On Thursday there was everybody’s favourite, jelly and ice cream, on offer and the traditional end of month drinks on Friday became the “Jubilee Tea Party”.

It was a fantastic week for the whole office and everybody had a great time. It really helped to create a festive, patriotic atmosphere around the office.

We’re already looking forward to the next event!!
